Our June DRMF leans into the roots of Red Dirt and American music, where country and bluegrass traditions meet music that feels familiar. This lineup brings new faces to our stage, including some Okies, which we’re always proud to welcome! Our headliner, which you could describe as a bluegrass soul, is a band whose sound has earned praise from some of country music’s most notable voices. While these performers may be new to our festival, their songs are sure to feel instantly recognizable. Music that sounds like it’s been part of your life and music mix for a long time.

The SteelDrivers

Specializing in a unique mix of what might be called bluegrass soul, The SteelDrivers have become one of the biggest names in progressive bluegrass after making their debut in 2005. While there’s a strong traditional streak in The SteelDrivers sound, they bring a passion to their delivery that adds a distinctive flavor, and they’re not afraid of adding a forceful grit to the music. Headlining the June show, The SteelDrivers have been nominated for four Grammys, the Americana Music Association’s New Artist of the Year and was IBMA’s 2009 Emerging Artist of The Year. In 2015, they won the “The Muscle Shoals Recordings” Grammy award for Best Bluegrass Recording.

The Creek Howlers

The Creek Howlers

The Creek Howlers are a band born in the backwoods, raised on Southern grit, and forged by the spirit of the wild. Blending outlaw country, swampy blues, and a dose of rock 'n' roll fire, their sound runs deep like muddy water over worn stones. The Creek Howlers deliver stories of heartbreak, whiskey nights, long roads, and wild redemption.

TJ Wicks

TJ Wicks

On stage first is an artist hailing from Cherokee County Oklahoma. TJ Wicks has honed his craft for over a decade. After years of playing in Southern Oklahoma, he made the pivotal decision to move to Austin, Texas, where he spent several years cutting his teeth in the bars and honky-tonks in Central Texas. Whether TJ is playing the blues on 6th Street in Austin, rocking a honky-tonk in southern Oklahoma, or picking on the Ghost Town Porch in Terlingua Texas, TJ is right at home.
