It was different, it was entertaining, and it was awesome. All words that echoed at some point throughout the crowd on this night of nostalgia, rap, rock, and pop - a group of entertainers that engaged with the crowd in a way that we’ve never experienced. We wanted to bring McAlester something different when we welcomed the Flobots, Josie Dunne and Stroke 9 to the June DRMF stage in what would be the second show of the summer series and… we did. As the day warmed quickly, the vendors were set and ready under the DRMF big tent and welcomed festival goers early with various products and experiences. From our Made In Oklahoma organizations such as Simply Country Ranch and Ozarka to local organizations like the McAlester Library, festival goers were encouraged to come out and spend the day with us. After the main stage performances, After Hours presented by MRHC continued the party with Jabee keeping festival-goers on the floor at DWNTWN 312 and Wight Lighters performing at Spaceship Earth.

Flobots
Headliner

Flobots

Flobots are the Denver band that turned a viral hit, "Handlebars," into a whole career of conscience-driven alt-hip-hop and rock. Built on live instruments, a violin out front, and lyrics that actually have something to say, their shows are part concert, part call to action. Smart, urgent, and impossible to file under one genre.

Josie Dunne

Josie Dunne

Josie Dunne makes retro-leaning pop with a soul streak and a songwriter's sharpness, all bright melodies and old-school warmth filtered through a modern ear. Charismatic and effortlessly fun on stage, she is the kind of opener who turns a room from milling to dancing before the headliner ever loads in.

Stroke 9

Stroke 9

Stroke 9 rode the turn-of-the-millennium alt-rock wave with the radio staple "Little Black Backpack," and the hooks have not dulled a bit. Their set is a guitar-pop time machine in the best way, tight, punchy, and built for singing along. A fun, nostalgic jolt of late-90s energy.
