DRMF Urban Pickleball Tournament

Registration: $100 per Doubles Team: (men’s, women’s, or mixed – all teams will be playing the same bracket)

The price for winning: bragging rights of being the best urban pickleballer in the world! Oh, and all participants will receive a players pack including: 2 beer vouchers*, reversible tournament Jersey, and 4 pit passes*!

*Beer vouchers only available to participants 21 or older. Pit passes and vouchers must both be used at the June 17th Festival.

I have and read and understand the tournament rules below.

The tournament will include up to rounds of play to establish seeding. These will be best of 3 to 11, win by 2 with a time cap at 45 minutes with the team with the most complete game wins is the winner. If the teams BOTH have won a game it goes to points on the current game. If the score is tied, then 3 points are played and the winner of 2 of those is the winner of that match. It is imperative that the early rounds run on TIME so show up early and warm up prior to the start time so you can go. Seeding rounds will be at 10, 11, 12, and 1. Tournament play will start at 2:30. The tournament is single elimination with each set being best of 3 to 15. These matches have the SAME time cap and tie/break rules. Round of 16 will be at 2:30, Round of 8 will be at 3:30, Final 4 at 4:30 and Final at 5:30. The final will be played to completion without time rules – BUT IT WILL START ON TIME.

Each game the teams will switch sides once the other team has 6 points. The next game will start on the same side you are on after the switch.

There are NO CATEGORIES. Men, women, children….whatever the composition of your team – you are in the same class. That being said, remember this is fun and you win no money.

Surfaces for each of the courts differs sooooo be ready! The final matches will be on Choctaw Ave. If you are not from here…let’s just say that it is NOT a regulation surface. Tough luck. You’ll play both sides and everyone is dealing with the same stuff.

Included with each entry are 2 jerseys that must be worn for EACH MATCH. So they will get sweaty…but it happens. This tournament will NOT go on if the music festival is cancelled. We will do our best to reschedule, but even if we don’t – no refunds. Follow Social media for updates! A courts map will be provided the day of the tournament. All of them are generally in walking distance of Spaceship Earth. CHECK IN, JERSET PICKUP, AND MANDATORY FULL TEAM MEETING will be at 9am at Spaceship Earth Coffee. Everyone on your team HAS TO BE THERE. Also, do not park there because you will just have to move your car. Food trucks will be out beginning at 11 – but there is no food or drink provided.

Registration does include 4 pit passes for the show that evening, the aforementioned jersey, and 2 beer coupons for Prairie Artisan Ales beers.

By acknowledging this I warrant that I have full authority to waive any and all liability for my team and the individual members. I acknowledge that while pickleball has a funny name, it can be serious business. I can suffer injuries during the matches, in between the matches and in getting to the different courts. Additionally, it is physically straining and I represent on behalf of myself, my team, and my teammate that we are physically capable of playing the matches, getting to the matches, and enjoying it all responsibly. I waive any and all possible causes of action against the Festival, Dancing Rabbit Music Association, the venues for the matches, the volunteers servicing the games, and any person, group, or organization that is participating or helping in any way. Literally, I understand that I will be playing pickleball in very random places that were NOT made for pickleball – including on a roof. I understand that that can be dangerous and I fully accept the possible outcomes of this clearly dangerous activity. Additionally, people are unpredictable – I understand that the people I mentioned above are not responsible for the actions of observers or my competitors. There are no background checks, psych evals, or anything else that would ensure that the people in and around the games will react rationally. I accept that risk and agree to hold everyone previously mentioned harmless for anything that may happen to me. I also understand that if I am the person who acts inappropriately that I may have criminal and civil consequences for my action – but I hold all the people mentioned harmless for my actions and those of my teammate and team. Nothing about this tournament is regulated by the official pickleball….group? League? It is not official is the point. This is just people getting together for a fun set of games. I will obey all rules provided to me and I understand that they may change without notice. Additionally, should the event be cancelled for any reason I understand that my entry is NON REFUNDABLE and I am cool with that because the funds are going to support local organizations. If I act rowdy or refuse to comply with the directions of the volunteers I know I can be removed and that I won’t get a refund. I acknowledge all of this things, with authority to do so, for myself, my team, and my partner.
