The Dancing Rabbit Music Festival returned to downtown McAlester, Oklahoma, for the ’24 season.

Headlining the May #DRMF24 show was The White Buffalo, also known as singer/songwriter/guitarist Jake Smith. A grammy award-winning producer of the year, he has four CMA and five ACM Awards, and when it comes to making music, he’s known for NEVER taking the obvious route. Before The White Buffalo to took the stage, you may have recognize the familiar song, β€œOn a Good Night”. That was Wade Hayes. If you know country music, you know Wade Hayes. He appeared on the country music scene in 1994 with his song β€œOld Enough to Know Better,” and his songs have been on the country radio ever since. Kicking off the show was a #DRMF alum and someone we like to call a festival friend, Autumn Ragland. You may remember her as the lead singer from the band Ragland. Returning this time as a solo artist, this native Okie, with an Americana/Country sound took center stage kicking off our May show.

The White Buffalo

The White Buffalo is the stage name of Jake Smith, and that gravel-and-gravity voice is unmistakable. His cinematic outlaw folk has soundtracked everything from "Sons of Anarchy" to a thousand late-night drives, big stories about love, violence, and redemption delivered like scripture from a barstool. Live, he is a force of nature, just a man, a guitar, and a voice that fills the whole room.

Wade Hayes

Bethel Acres, Oklahoma's own Wade Hayes broke through in the 90s with "Old Enough to Know Better" and a string of neotraditional country hits. His story took a harder turn with a public fight against cancer, and the music he makes now carries that hard-won perspective. A genuine Oklahoma country star, home on a hometown stage.

Autumn Ragland

Autumn Ragland

Autumn Ragland is an Oklahoma singer-songwriter with a warm, unhurried voice and an ear for the kind of song that feels like it has always existed. Rooted in the state's deep songwriting tradition, she brings honesty and heart to every set, the sort of homegrown talent Dancing Rabbit loves to put in front of a hometown crowd.
